The federal government was attaching due attention and priority for promoting Information and Communication Te technology (ICT) as well as Digital Transformation and a number of projects were being launched by the official quarters concerned.
A Digital Pakistan Initiative aiming at spurring innovation and implementing an IT-driven culture with a focus on the adoption of IT services for improving the public services delivery and enhancing connectivity infrastructure, e.g., broadband access, cellular collectivity etc.
In this regard , an important project was being implemented with an allocation of Rs 5000 million was Prime Minister’s Initiative Support for IT startups, Specialized I.T. Trainings, and Venture Capital.
The project consists of 3 components, including the following:
The Pakistan Startup Fund, aligned with the Digital Pakistan, aims to drive venture capital investment by reducing investor risks and providing equity-free financial support to startups. It supports sectors like fintech, retail, Artificial Intelligence (AI),, and Machine Learning, fostering innovation and IT/ITeS exports. Serving as a bridge between investment and innovation, the fund plays a key role in the strengthening of Pakistan’s startup ecosystem.
Bridge Start Pakistan is a federal government-supported initiative aimed at showcasing local startups on the global stage. It focuses on securing investments, expanding markets, and enhancing global competitiveness to drive job creation, economic diversification and knowledge exchange. By positioning Pakistan as a centre for innovation, the programme seeks to attract international partnerships and investments, strengthening the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
E-Rozgar Pakistan aims to tackle youth unemployment by leveraging Pakistan’s strong position in IT outsourcing . The federal government plans to establish 250+ co-working spaces nationwide as virtual technology hubs for innovation and skill development.
In order to strengthen IT industry, 20000 students from Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized universities will receive specialised technology training at a cost of Rs 1000 million. Additionally, a hands-on industry-Placement Programme will place 10 thousand ICT students in their final semesters into industry roles, offering practical experience and a Rs 30 thousand stipends. This initiative aims to build a highly skilled workforce, driving growth and innovation in Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) sector.
