Govt. seeking WB support for technical needs of Discos

For the improvement of electric supply and operational efficiency in distribution companies (Discos) of Hyderabad, Multan and Peshawar., Pakistani government has requested for loan of $375 million to the World Bank. The main reason for this is to upgrade the technical needs of mentioned discos. As the three Discos account for highest power sector losses in the country and have failed to meet their investment requirements and provide reliable supply of electricity, the project will improve access and reliability of power supply in the areas served by these Discos. It is predicted that the World Bank will likely to approve the project in 2021.
