Govt planning to offer cheap electricity to industries

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif had a formal meeting with a delegation of members of Entrepreneurs Organization recently, in order to review and consider suggestions from various parties regarding provision of affordable electricity to the industries in Punjab with the help of direct transmission lines.

She directly ordered the authorities to immediately fix the problems currently being faced by the Entrepreneurs Organization in Punjab. “This is not just a formal meeting but we want to bring real changes in the industry”, she said. It was also agreed upon to form a high level committee to address these problems and Ali Alam Qamar, a notable Industrialist was appointed as it’s focal person .

While addressing the meeting, she said “Prominent organisations from all over the world are coming to Nawaz Sharif IT City. The situation cannot be changed overnight, but there is a determination and motivation to change it. We will change the situation together with the industrialists.”

On speaking about the determination of industrialists to achieve the target of an overall GDP of 300 billion dollars for Punjab, Maryam Nawaz said, “I want a lasting relief in electricity bills for industry, as well as, domestic consumers. Chief Ministership is a challenging job, the responsibility of 14 crore people does not let me sleep at night. It is a pity that industrial estates have become a real estate business. There are immense opportunities in Punjab; we want to create plug–and-play units of industry.”

On this occasion, Ali Alam Qamar, while giving a speech, stated, “In the form of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab has got its first industry and trade friendly Chief Minister. Dozens of projects including electricity relief, solar panel, health and education are a record in 6 months. Maryam Nawaz is an innovative economic leader.”

The delegation included industrialists from cement, textile, IT, oil and petroleum, chemical, tourism and other sectors. The meeting was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, SACM on Political Affairs Zeeshan Mali and MPA Sania Ashiq attended the meeting. Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Industries Ehsan Bhutta, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal and other relevant officers.
