The grand finale and prize distribution ceremony of Finding Innovative & Creative Solutions (FICS) 2024, a flagship initiative of NUST dedicated to fostering social entrepreneurship, was held at the university’s main campus. Marking its 11th edition, FICS 2024 significantly expanded its international footprint by welcoming participation from Turkiye and Azerbaijan. This expansion was made possible through strategic partnerships with Azerbaijan Technical University and Altinbas University, Turkiye, highlighting the competition’s growing influence beyond Pakistan.
This year’s competition was particularly robust, with an impressive 800 project submissions. These entries came from over 30 NUST Schools & Colleges, as well as national and international institutions, showcasing a diverse range of innovative ideas aimed at addressing social challenges.
The event was graced by Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, who served as the chief guest. His presence underscored the importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship at the national level. Other prominent attendees included Lt Gen Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari (retd), Rector of NUST, along with ambassadors and esteemed educationists from Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Brunei Darussalam. Their participation highlighted the global relevance of the event and the shared commitment to nurturing young talent.
The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the winning projects, which were celebrated for their potential to make a significant impact on society. The event not only recognized the creativity and dedication of the participants but also reinforced NUST’s role as a leader in promoting social entrepreneurship on a global scale.
