A high-profile German delegation engaged in pivotal talks with Sindh’s Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah exploring expansive investment opportunities in the province’s burgeoning renewable energy sector. The meeting, held at the Sindh Energy Department, underscored growing international interest in the region’s solar, wind, and coal gasification projects.
Minister Shah emphasized Sindh’s untapped potential during a detailed briefing, highlighting its “abundant solar and wind resources” as prime avenues for foreign collaboration. He noted that the province’s investor-friendly policies have spurred record engagement, with both local and global firms seeking partnerships. “Sindh is committed to facilitating seamless investments, ensuring high returns in sustainable energy projects,” Shah stated.
A focal point of discussion was Sindh’s groundbreaking 350-megawatt solar-wind hybrid initiative, poised to become the world’s second-largest project of its kind. Energy Secretary Musaddiq Ahmed Khan elaborated on ongoing and future ventures, including advancements in Thar coal utilization. Global experts have endorsed Thar’s coal reserves as ideal for gasification, opening doors for innovative energy solutions.
The German delegation, led by Diemar Siers Dorfer, CEO of Siemens Energy Middle East & America, expressed keen interest in the hybrid project and Thar coal prospects. “Sindh’s vision aligns with our global sustainability goals,” remarked Dorfer, signaling potential collaborations. Delegates also included Siemens CFO Daniela Schoeppner and Seamens Energy Pakistan’s Muhammad Rafi.
Accompanied by provincial officials, including Project Director Mahfooz Ahmed Qazi, the talks reinforced Sindh’s emergence as a renewable energy hub. Minister Shah reiterated the government’s pledge to bolster investor confidence through transparent policies and infrastructural support.
With global energy demands shifting toward renewables, Sindh’s strategic initiatives position it as a frontrunner in Pakistan’s green transition. The German delegation’s visit marks a significant step toward cross-border partnerships, potentially accelerating the province’s energy ambitions and economic growth.
