The rail connectivity of Gawadar Port with ML-1 and Quetta has successfully completed its phase one and is entering the phase two in the present. This was highlighted during the meeting of a parliamentary panel where the responsible authorities were applauded and the project completion was discussed in further detail. The meeting comprised of Senate Standing committee on Maritime affairs and chaired by Senator Rubina Khalid.
The committee was informed during the meeting that the land acquisition for the mentioned project has been divided into three phases out of which, the first phase has been successfully completed and the second phase is under works as of now and shall be completed very soon.
The committee shared their views about the project stating that a stable railway connection between Gawadar Port and ML-1 will play a vital role in the development of both the Gawadar Port as well as the Pakistan Railways. Pakistan Railways has also been directed to create a PC-1 for approval as soon as possible by the committee.
Moreover the committee was also briefed on the master plan for the development of Gawadar Sea Port. According to the officials, a total of 2350 acres of land has been acquired so far and 19121 acres remain. Senator Khalid also directed for a proper system to dispose off the industrial waste to ensure the avoidance of pollution of the Gawadar Sea.
