Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) is working on four development projects in different parts of the country which it had it had initiated sometime back under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Federal Government.
Product Development Centre for Composites Based Sports Goods Sialkot
The project will serve as a Common Facility Centre for manufacturing of composite sports goods i.e. hockey sticks, baseball and cricket bats, billiard ques, rackets and fishing tackle and golf sticks, approximately 10800 products per annum.
It has been undertaken to prepare and support local industry to aggressively enter the international market of composite –based sports goods. Total cost of the project is Rs 487.97 million and t is being implemented in a phased manner.
Fruit Dehydration Unit, Swat
Fruit dehydration facility for processing fruits and vegetables is a Common Facility Centre that will replace existing hazardous and obsolete and drying practices with modern dehydration and packaging methods as per international standards.
The total cost of the project is Rs 59.49 million out of which about Rs 25.89 million were reported to have been utilized during last financial year on the project implementation in a phased manner.
SME Business Facilitation Centre Multan
The objective of SME Business Facilitation Centre at Multan is to facilitate SMEs through SMEDA services within the region. The total cost of the project is Rs 59.89 million which is implemented in a phased manner.
The Business Facilitation Centre will provide services to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which are : Information dissemination, Delivery of need-based training programmes for SMEs, Identification of region-specific investment opportunities and Over the Counter products development.
Business Skill Development Centre for Women at Dera smail Khan
The establishment of Business Skill Development Centre on completion will provide an entrepreneurial culture amongst women in Dera Ismail Khan.
Total cost of the project is Rs 69.59 million which is also being implemented in a phased manner after being initiated during last financial year.
