The foundation of Sialkot’s first Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) has been laid which is to be built by China’s Shaanxi Water Resources & Hydro Power Engineering Group Company Ltd (SWEG).
The plant is being built under the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP). The plant would be constructed on 239-acre land with Rs 1,830 million and completed in two years. Sewerage water of North Zone of Sialkot city would be treated and used for farming. 68.23 cusecs waste water could be treated on a daily basis.
SWEG has executed several mega projects in China. From Shaanxi, the company extended its business to different provinces of China, followed by its expansion from China to Pakistan, Kenya, Bangladesh and other countries.
