Pakistan’s exports continued to extend their growth for the fifth consecutive month in January 2024 reaching a 17-month high and also marking recovery in export -led industrial growth.
According to the information available from the Federal Ministry of Commerce sources, the country’s exports in January, first month of New Year 2024, stood at $ 2.78 billion reflecting an appreciable increase from the corresponding period of the previous year’s figures of $ 2.19 billion.
Exports from Pakistan for the first seven months of the outgoing financial year 2023-24 had increased by 12 percent to $ 17.76 billion compared to the figures of $ 15.83 billion during the corresponding period the last financial year.
Imports into the country also indicated a marginal decrease of 4.5 percent during January 2024 to $ 4.66 billion as compared to $ 4.88 billion during the first month of the last year i.e. January 2023 indicating continuation of negative growth of the country’s imports.
