Siraj Kassam Teli the Chairman of the Businessmen Group and former president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) , has said that a mechanism has been decided between the industries, the chief minister of Sindh, the secretary of industries/chief secretary under which it has been agreed in principle that the lockdown in the province will be strictly adhered to by all the industries, and permission will only be granted to specific industries only.
Under these circumstances the government would provide relief to specific export-oriented industries on a case-to-case basis and also to some other food & beverages industries manufacturing essential food items, water, milk, flour, rice and sugar so that they could keep on running their businesses.
This will help in curbing the shortage of food items during the lockdown as well as controlling the prices of edible during this time.
Siraj Teli appealed to all the industrialists of Karachi to make sure that all their workers and daily-wage earners got their salaries earlier and they also received ration and food items as nothing was important than the lives of the poor masses and we have to take good care of them.
