Elmec international started its journey in 2002 by Mr. Irfan Farooq and Mr. Zeeshan Farooq. During an exclusive interview with Engineering Post Mr. Zeeshan Farooq said “Our first breakthrough as a company was National Hospital & Medical Centre Lahore. The high quality of work delivered at the facility helped us gain the trust of our clients in the future,” he said
From 2009-2016 Elmec international worked with AUX for VRF solutions. In 2016 Elmec International convinced Fujitsu General Japanese brand to return to Pakistan with Elmec international working as their official distributors and after sales service providers. “Fujitsu General is optimal for sub-tropical regions like Pakistan offering Tropical series which can at an ambient temperature of 52 degree centigrade. In the last six years we have worked on multiple projects installing the products of Fujitsu General. Some notable projects are DHA Head office phase 6 Lahore, Bahria Enclave Head office Islamabad, Bahria Heritage club Karachi, NDU Islamabad, OPD Hospital Kamra. DHA Quetta Grand Entrance Complex and Fighter Jet hangar for Pakistan Air force,”revealed Mr Zeeshan and Mr.Irfan. The Installations have been working smoothly without any major complaint for the past 6 years.
The durability and efficiency of Fujitsu General, which is a Japanese brand, has been one of the most important factors in the success of the company. The VRF systems currently available in the market are marred with technical problems which start arising within a couple of years of installation. But high end products like Fujitsu General have proved their mettle by operating smoothly without any significant problems for the past 6 years “The consumer has realised that the disposable-type VRFs available in the market might offer initial cost saving but in the long run they have so many technical problems that sometimes they even have to be completely replaced. So it is better to invest in a reliable product for once. In my opinion in the future only those companies will be successful which offer 15-20 years life for their VRF systems” explained Mr Zeeshan.
During the conversation Mr. Irfan Farooq disclosed that Elmec International is once again planning to start local assembly and local manufacturing of HVAC products like they used to in 2002 “After 2002 the government had completely ignored import policies and a large number of Chinese products were made available in the market which immensely discouraged local manufacturers because Chinese products were cheaper and our manufacturing costs were much higher. Now for our vision 2022 Elmec International is planning to start manufacturing Fan coil units, Air handling units and other allied products in Pakistan again,” said Mr Zeeshan Farooq. He urged the local players to work with a nationalist approach and focus more on local manufacturing and decrease reliance on imported products.
This is an extremely positive initiative as local manufacturing not only strengthens the local economy but also provides employment opportunities to the local labour as well as skilled workforce while producing high quality products at competitive prices.
