UET Peshawar organized Pakistan’s first ever 2 day ECO summit from 7-8 march 2019. The summit was arranged by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) UET, Peshawar, in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), British Council and other organizations. The event was organized to bring academia industry and government at one platform for introducing innovative green technologies and finding indigenous solutions for sustainable environment.
UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iftikhar chaired the summit as a chief guest. He said climate change was showing a momentous impact globally on people’s livelihood and the ecosystem. He urged the stakeholders including government, industry academia and civil society to come to a united forum and raise the scale of awareness on climate sensitization.
Later an MoU signing ceremony was held between UET Peshawar and Fast Cables Company, a leading cable company of Pakistan. Imran Zahoor Regional Head (Fast Cables North) and Vice Chancellor signed the MoU. The Fast Cables would support the needy students through Zakat scholarships; award Gold Medals to the top ranked students of Electrical Engineering Department and offer internships to the engineering students.
Registrar UET Peshawar, Dr Khizar Azam and Director Career Development Center, Dr Farid also spoke on the occasion. The Summit was supported by ASHRAE, and the student Society of Mechanical Engineers which will hold a series of activities including engineering expo, roundtable on renewable energy, technical sessions, photography competitions and career counseling discussions.
