Pakistan has launched massive consultations at the appropriate levels to finalize the e-commerce roadmap for next five year, the E-Commerce Policy 2025-30 in a major move towards modernization of the country’s digital economy.

After the Federal Commerce Ministry has completed its process of consultations with the relevant ministries, regulators and the private sector stakeholders, the draft policy will be submitted to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for its approval.

The new five year roadmap aims to boost the country’s digital trade, empowering the youth and streamlining e-commerce infrastructure.

One of the main features of the policy was the formal inclusion of the youth aged between 15 to 18 years as active participants in the e-commerce ecosystem. The draft policy aims to empower the young entrepreneurs to build digital ventures, access formal markets, and contribute quite meaningfully to the economic activity in the country.

The draft policy also aims to take adequate measures for removing barriers, fostering innovation and creating an ecosystem where all Pakistanis have the tools and opportunities to participate in and benefit from the digital economy.

The Commerce Ministry was confident that the policy and when it was finalized, approved and enforced in due course of time, will not only strengthen Pakistan’s domestic digital trade but also enhance its standing in the digital marketplace globally.
