Dubai Expo 2020: Pakistan’s pavilion theme is ‘Emerging Pakistan’

After the 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee on Expo 2020, Dubai, held on April 30, 2018, a summary was moved to the Prime Minister’s Office  which approved the following proposals of Ministry of Commerce, to proceed further for the Pakistan’s participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai: (i) the theme of “Emerging Pakistan” shall be adopted for Pakistan Pavilion, which may portray the most advanced achievements Pakistan has made in logistics, education, human resource development, financial inclusion and sustainability.

CPEC being one of the largest connectivity initiatives in the region will be highlighted, especially positive externalities generated by CPEC in terms of employment creation, energy generation and massive opportunities for investment along the route;(ii) the space for pavilion shall be reserved in general area and not in the areas of three particular sub-themes so that an overlapping theme of “Emerging Pakistan” could be depicted;(iii) Pakistan Pavilion’s buildings and exhibits shall be planned with utmost care and shall focus on Pakistan’s strengths, in the logistics, education, human resource development, financial inclusion and sustainability, positive externalities generated by CPEC in terms of employment creation, energy generation and massive opportunities for investment along the route.

Moreover, export-oriented industries, agricultural exports, tourism, defense production, information and communications technology and financial services, shall also be highlighted; (iv) Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE is nominated as Pakistan’s Section Commissioner General, rather than the Secretary TDAP, temporarily.

However, Pakistan’s regular Section Commissioner General for the exposition shall be notified later;( v) TDAP, as the Responsible National Authority, shall provide support to the Section Commissioner General;(vi) design consultants and event managers of international repute shall be engaged for developing a functional design of the Pakistan Pavilion, as well as a calendar of events and exhibits for the duration of the exposition and; (vii) Finance and Commerce Divisions shall raise the funds for the exposition from alternative sources including $14.860 million, options may include EDF, renting out of the commercial areas of Pakistan pavilion and corporate contributions.
