Design and Drawings project cost escalates for ML-1

Railways Division’s project ‘ Preliminary Design/Drawings for Up gradation/Rehabilitation of Main Line (ML-1) and Establishment of Dryport near Havelian under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and hiring of design/designs vetting consultants was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) about 8 years way back in April 2017 for implementation at an estimated cost of Rs 10641.634 million with No Rupee Cover.

Against the approved cost, an estimated escalated expenditure of Rs 11824.949 million was reported to have been incurred by end June 2025 and against Throw-Forward of Rs -1183.316 million, a meagre amount of Rs 20.000 million has been allocated under the Public sector Development Programme (PSDP) for its continued implementation during ongoing financial year 2025-26.
