Denmark is set to deepen its energy partnership with Pakistan through a new three-year Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) programme, scheduled to commence on January 1, 2026. Spearheaded by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA), the initiative aims to enhance the technical capacity of Pakistan’s key energy institutions and support the country’s transition to a more sustainable and efficient energy system.
Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, Jacob Linulf, stated that the SSC will focus on three critical areas: long-term sector modelling and planning, integration of variable renewable energy, and improving energy efficiency within Pakistan’s industrial sector.
To formally initiate the cooperation, a high-level Danish delegation led by Carl-Christian Munk-Nielsen, Director of Global Cooperation at the DEA, will visit Pakistan from August 18 to 22, 2025. The delegation will meet key stakeholders, particularly the newly restructured energy bodies—National Grid Company (NGC), Independent System and Market Operator (ISMO), and Energy Infrastructure Development & Management Company (EIDMC).
Ambassador Linulf stressed that these meetings will not only introduce the SSC programme’s objectives but also collect vital feedback to align future training and collaboration efforts. The Danish Embassy has requested support from Pakistani authorities to facilitate these crucial engagements.
