Delay in CPEC routes construction

An in ordinary delay has been observed in some of the critical road projects of the National Highways Authority (NHA). This also includes the western route under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway.  The reason of delay turned out to be the inconsistent policies and shortage of funds. Due to shortage of funds, security reasons, and willful incompetence on the part of the contractors, the dely can be worst in the coming days. Moreover, the western route and Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, which are also the critical components of the CPEC, connecting Gwadar Port with other parts of the country have also failed to achieve the scheduled progress. Due to randomly changing policies of Government, this will worsen the situation in coming days. Hakla-DI Khan Motorway (CPEC) is 285 kilometers long and part of western route. It was divided into five packages at an estimated cost of Rs 145.5 billion including Rs 20 billion for land acquisition and utilities. The tentative year to complete the work was 2019 but still the construction is ongoing. Howbeit, the project has achieved85.37 percent physical and 71.33 percent financial progress so far.
