Current calendar year 2023 marks the Decade of great game changer China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
To mark the strong partnership between the great neighboring countries China and Pakistan which are getting stronger and more stronger with passage of every day, both Pakistan and China are going to celebrate 10 years of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and CPEC on July 5, 2023 in a befitting manner.
To participate in the CPEC Decade celebrations, a number of high level Chinese delegations are scheduled to visit Pakistan. They will participate in the celebrations and witness highlighting of the great achievements made in different sectors in Pakistan during the decade of great game changer CPEC.
The CPEC is a long term programme of China and Pakistan aimed to act as a “Gateway of Prosperity” for both the countries as well as the region at large. The CPEC is focused to open various doors of prosperity in trade and marketing access, industrial development and global value chains, socio-economic development and poverty alleviation, agriculture modernization and marketing, Gwadar Oil City and blue economy, regional connectivity as well as third party participation.
In the first phase of CPEC implementation, priority was given to developing prerequisites of CPEC to initiate the economic activities. Investment under CPEC overall umbrella in infrastructure and energy sectors through the implementation of early harvest projects have also filled in the voids and duly accelerated the pace of economic growth of the country that will quite obviously ultimately be providing a momentous boost to the economy of Pakistan in due course of time.
In order to realize the vision of CPEC in letter and spirit, due emphasize is also being now laid on the areas which directly or indirectly contribute to the socio-economic uplift of the people of Pakistan. In this regard, industrialization and agriculture modernization are the preferred areas for bringing about employment, enhancing trade and earning the precious much-needed foreign exchange for the country. Cooperation in Science and Technology and Information Technology sectors has also been designed with an emphasize on technology upgradation and transfer for supporting the development process under CPEC.
