While addressing the first meeting of the company’s board of directors, Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company’s (PIEDMC) newly-appointed Chairman Rizwan Khalid Butt has said the Chunian Industrial Estate would be completed by 2017.
This meeting also approved the appointment of Iftikhar Hussain as company’s acting chief executive officer.
He outlined his agenda to strengthen industrialisation in the province and said the launch of Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park, completion of Chunian and Rahim Yar Khan industrial estates, one-window facility and a central call centre for PIEDMC investors, ISO certification of the company and zero loadshedding at the industrial estates would be top priorities.
About the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate, he said first phase of the project had already been completed while the second one is near its completion. “We will start its colonisation drive soon,” he said, and announced setting up of Chunian Industrial Estate which would be another success story after the Sundar Industrial Estate. The location of this estate is next to the provincial metropolis where the skilled labour would be available in abundance to the potential investors,” he said.
Butt said the Chief Minister Punjab has desired early completion of one-widow facility for the investors at all industrial estates in the province. “We have done the paper work while execution phase is also set to start,” he said, and added that all the federal and provincial departments would set up their desks to redress the industrialists’ day-to-day needs.
The list of his minimum agenda also included 24/7 electricity and gas supply to the industrial units at all the industrial estates. A comprehensive plan has already been devised to implement in the shortest possible time, he added.
