China to provide Rs 7246.018 million as project loans for 6 Federal PSDP Projects in 2021-22

China is expected to provide Pakistan Rs 7246.018 million as Project  Loans  for six  projects listed in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) during financial year 2021-22.

Projects likely to receive Chinese financial assistance during current financial year are Upgradation of Pakistan Railways existing main line-1 (ML-1) and establishment of Dry Port  near Havelian (2018-22022);Gwadar Smart Environmental and Sanitation System and land fill ;26 MW Shagarthang HPP Skardu; Construction of Expressway on Eastbay of Gwadar Port; Pakistan Multi Missions Satellite (PAK SAT MM1)  and  Pakistan Space Centre Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

According to the official sources, China was estimated to provide financial assistance of Rs 2750.000 million during financial year 2020-21. Against this,  China had provided enhanced amount of Rs 3750.000.

China did not provide the projected financial assistance  for five out of six projects  during the last financial year. However ,China provided enhanced amount of Rs 3750.000 million only for one project “Construction of expressway on Eastbay of Gwadar Port” against previously projected  amount of Rs 800.000 million only.

Reasons for not providing the projected financial assistance for five PSDP  listed projects as project loans could not be immediately ascertained from official sources concerned in Islamabad.
