Pakistan Railways has been offered an agreement for the transfer of loads of cement and coal by Cherat Cement Company.
The offer was made during meeting between M Javed Anwar, CEO Pakistan Railways, and a company delegation under leadership of Malik Azam Farooq, CEO of Cherat Cement Company, at Headquarters in Lahore. Pakistan Railways is providing services of transfer of oil, cement and coal under the agreements with PSO and Maple Leaf, said CEO Pakistan Railways, M Javed Anwar.
Recently, the PSO has doubled the business with Pakistan Railways under fuel transportation agreement. Similarly, Maple Leaf also intends to increase the business of Rs 1 billion to Rs 2 billion. This is a specimen of services of Pakistan Railways. Anwar said that freight sector has lot of potential and it can work with more capability after the import of US locomotives. Malik Farooq Azam, CEO Cherat Cements, said that Railways has revolutionized the freight sector and they are interested in doing agreement for transmission of coal from Karachi to Peshawar and cement to various cities of Punjab.
The CEO designated AGM Traffic Abdul Hamid Bari from Railways and Ahmed Shoaib from Cherat Cements to draft the agreement.
