The new fiscal year started with a sharp increase in the consumption of cement all across the country. According to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) the dispatch of cement jumped to 4.838 million tons in July 2020 as compared to 3.512 million tons from the same period last year which is a whopping 38 percent increase.
Exports of cement registered a more impressive increase of 66.14pc to 0.885m tonnes from 0.533m tonnes in the same month last year. The APCMA spokesman commenting on the situation said the increase in cement despatches last month gave the much-needed boost to the industry after a disappointing fiscal. He said that increasing trend in fuel and energy prices has badly impacted the freight cost and overall cost of production.
Market experts are very optimistic that with the approval of new construction projects in the country the construction industry and all its allied industries will get the much required boost which will eventually stabilize the economy of the country
