Cement dispatches in June 2024 totalled 3.552 million tons, reflecting a dynamic shift in the industry’s focus towards international markets. The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) released data showcasing a remarkable increase in export dispatches, a positive trend for the sector.
Export dispatches in June 2024 saw a significant boost, rising by 14.19% from North-based mills, which increased their exports from 95,333 tons in June 2023 to 108,861 tons in June 2024. This growth demonstrates the strong demand for Pakistani cement in global markets. Although South-based mills experienced a 24.32% decrease in exports, dispatching 364,004 tons in June 2024 compared to 480,976 tons in June 2023, the overall export performance remains encouraging.
For the fiscal year ending 30th June 2024, total cement dispatches (domestic and exports) reached 45.291 million tons, a 1.60% increase from the previous year’s 44.579 million tons. The highlight of this period was the massive 55.71% surge in export dispatches, with volumes jumping to 7.110 million tons compared to 4.566 million tons in the last fiscal year. This substantial growth in exports underscores the industry’s expanding footprint in international markets.
The APCMA spokesman emphasized the importance of the domestic market while celebrating the achievements in the export sector. He pointed out that the industry’s ability to adapt and thrive in international markets is a testament to the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani cement.
