CDWP Clears Rs266bn Engineering Projects to Boost Power, Transport and Water Sectors

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) cleared a portfolio of major engineering-related development projects with a combined cost of Rs 266.55 billion, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening national infrastructure in power, transport and water resources.

The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, approved four projects worth Rs 10.551 billion at the CDWP level, while recommending four large-scale engineering projects costing Rs 256 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

Among the flagship initiatives is the revised Karachi Urban Mobility Project (Yellow BRT Corridor), estimated at Rs 178.593 billion, which was recommended to ECNEC.

In the power sector, the CDWP recommended the Upgradation and Extension of NTDC’s Telecommunications and SCADA System at a cost of Rs 50.374 billion.
