CDWP approved Karachi Circular Railway Project

A project of worth Rs 20.715 billion for the construction of infrastructure (flyover/ underpass structure) for elimination of level crossing from the loop section of Karachi Circular Railways has been recommended by Central Development Working Party (CDWP). The draft has been submitted to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval. The official team of CDWP arranged a sitting with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan at P-Block Secretariat to elaborate and finalize the approval of Karachi Circular Railways project. The meeting was bestowed by the senior officials of Planning Commission side-by-side with the federal ministries/divisions, who also participated in the meeting. The representatives of the provincial governments were entertained through video conferences. The presented project named as “Construction of Infrastructure (flyover/underpass structure) for elimination of level crossing from the loop section of Karachi Circular Railways” was finalized and recommended for further adumbration. The planned structures will help to eliminate 22 level crossings located from KCR loop from Drigh Road to Karachi City Station along with a steadfast mode of public transport. As the project is fundamental for the socio-economic welfare of the people of Karachi, the deputy chairman Planning Commission has given instructions to all concerned officials to certify the accomplishment of the projects within the defined tenure.
