The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has granted unconditional regulatory approval for the strategic acquisition of electrical equipment manufacturer IMS Electric (Private) Limited, clearing the path for new ownership of the former Schneider Electric Pakistan entity. Investors Danish Ghous and Syed Jawad Bin Saghir will acquire shares from current holders Anila Haq, Faizan Ul Haq, and Tooba Haq under a Share Purchase Agreement endorsed by the CCP following a Phase-I merger review under Section 11 of the Competition Act, 2010.
In its assessment, the Commission defined the relevant product market as “Switchgears and Transformers,” concluding the transaction will neither substantially lessen competition nor create or strengthen a dominant position in this critical power infrastructure segment. IMS Electric rebranded after its Schneider Electric Pakistan era manufactures switchgears and distribution boards, trades transformers, and provides nationwide electrical installation services.
This decisive clearance underscores regulatory confidence in Pakistan’s evolving energy landscape while ensuring uninterrupted operations for a key industrial player. The verdict reinforces the CCP’s dual mandate to safeguard competitive markets while facilitating legitimate ownership transitions in vital economic sectors.
