M/S China Communications Construction Group (CCCG) through its wholly owned subsidiary investment arm CCCC Industrial Investment Holding Company Limited (CIHC) has been transferred the task of executing the 300MW coal power project in Gwadar. This is an imported coal based power project which had previously been awarded to China Communication Construction Company Limited (CCCC) as the sole sponsor of the project in May 2017 but now the Chinese side stated that the CCCC being a public listed company on the markets in China is encountering time-consuming difficulties and is unable to complete the project. They had put up a request for the substitution of sponsor for 300MW power plant which was approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet in January 2019.
The credentials of the incoming company were verified by the Pakistan Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) and were found to be satisfactory.
