Engr Sikandar Hayat Khattak elected unopposed as Chairman Constructors Association of Pakistan (CAP for 2016-2017). Khattak has served CAP thrice previously as chairman.
Afzal ur Rahman has been elected as Senior Vice Chairman, Imran Abbas Awan as Vice Chairman (Punjab), Farooq Azam as Vice Chairman (Sindh) and Engr Shahid Rafiq as Vice Chairman Islamabad Region unopposed.
CAP is the representative association of the construction sector in the country interacting with national and international agencies for resolution of issues and improvement of project delivery system in the country.
Engr Sikandar Hayat Khattak while addressing the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association here the other day has said that construction was the largest sector of Pakistan’s economy after agriculture, with the gross output about 10 percent of GDP which made it larger than the textile sector.
He said the association should play an important role in developing project management expertise in the country to help on time completion of projects while improving standard compliance.
Other who were elected as members of the executive committee are Engr Zafarullah Khan, Engr Abdul Karim Khadim, Engr Akber Sheikh, Ayub Sabir Izhar, Arif Raza Kazmi, Syed Iqbal Yunus, Muhammad Gulzar Shah, Ch Muhammad Siddiqui, Muhammad Adnan Waheed, Maqsood Ahmad, Muhammad Ayub Sheikh, Engr Najamul Haq Najmi, Engr Ikramul Haq Siddiqui, Raza Ali Abidi from corporate class.
While Zahid ul Hassan Qureshi, Sabir Hussain Javed, Munir Ahmad Abbasi, Khawaja Shoaib Mohiuddin, Saifullah Zia, Muhammad Tariq, and Engr Muhammad Najeeb Haroon were elected as executive committee members in associate class.
