Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the preparation of the C2 Steel Green Industrial Corridor project, terming it a transformative initiative aimed at reviving Pakistan Steel Mills and accelerating local industrial production.
Addressing an event at the Port Qasim Authority (PQA), the minister revealed that Port Qasim has achieved a significant global milestone by being ranked the world’s ninth-best performing container port. He attributed this achievement to extensive modernization and digital reforms that have substantially enhanced the port’s operational capacity and efficiency.
“The port’s performance has witnessed remarkable improvement through modernization and digital reforms,” he said, emphasizing that the C2 Steel Green Industrial Corridor forms a central component of the government’s plan to establish Pakistan as a global maritime industrial hub.
He termed the initiative a cornerstone of the Maritime Century Vision, the federal government’s roadmap to transforming the maritime economy through sustainable, technology-driven development.
He noted that the Port Qasim Special Economic Zone has rapidly emerged as a preferred destination for investors, supported by advancements in green port technologies and integrated digital connectivity. “We are transforming Port Qasim into a complete maritime-industrial ecosystem,” he added.
The minister’s announcement highlights the government’s strong commitment to upgrading maritime infrastructure and positioning Pakistan as a competitive player in both regional and international maritime trade.
