BYD to enter Pakistani Market with electric vehicle launch on August 17th

The Chinese automotive powerhouse BYD is preparing to officially enter the Pakistani market with a major launch event scheduled for August 17th. As the leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) globally, BYD has formed a strategic alliance with Mega Motor Company, a subsidiary of Hub Power Company Limited (Hubco), to introduce its electric and plug-in hybrid cars to Pakistani consumers.

This partnership, announced in March, aims to deliver BYD’s advanced NEV technology to Pakistan, where there is a rising interest in eco-friendly transportation. BYD’s expansion into Pakistan follows its remarkable global achievements, having secured the top NEV seller position worldwide in both 2022 and 2023. The company recently marked the production of its 8 millionth new energy vehicle, a significant milestone achieved just over three years after producing its 1 millionth vehicle in May 2021.

Aly Khan, CEO of Mega Motor Co, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with BYD is in line with our mission to strengthen the national economy and address climate change challenges in Pakistan. We are thrilled to aid the government’s efforts to boost NEV usage and cut down on fossil fuel dependence.”

The launch event will highlight BYD’s newest models and include plans for establishing a comprehensive charging network, which is crucial for the broad adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan. This venture is anticipated to make a significant impact on Pakistan’s automotive sector, potentially transforming the market with advanced NEV offerings and supporting the nation’s sustainability objectives.
