The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter has emblazoned its name in history by successfully hosting the inaugural ASHRAE RAL SR1 Planning Meeting, a transformative event that unfolded against the breathtaking backdrop of Nathiagali, Pakistan, from August 4th to 6th, 2023.
Founded in 1895, ASHRAE stands as a global beacon for engineers and professionals committed to advancing the fields of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R). With its headquarters nestled in Atlanta, USA, ASHRAE unites over 50,000 professionals spanning 130 nations.
The ASHRAE RAL SR1 Planning Meeting serves as an annual focal point during which member chapters from the designated region convene in a chosen host country to engage in comprehensive discussions and strategic planning for regional undertakings. Among the 20 participating chapters, notable representatives and substitutes from 15 chapters, alongside regional council representatives, ARC, RVCs, and ARVCs, actively partake in this dynamic assembly.
Commencing on August 5th, the program started with chapter delegate introductions, followed by approval of meeting minutes by Mr. Ade Awujoola, SRI Chair. A Caucus Orientation led by Mr. Abbas Sajid, Nom committee alternate in ASHRAE Society, transpired. Insights into regional membership expansion were shared by the Region vice Chair. Chapters presented their annual reports, and discussions encompassed various regional committee activities, including Standing Committee, GA Committee, RA Committee, YEA, Refrigeration, Historical, and Communication Committees. Strategic assessments of anticipated chapter challenges and successes enriched the proceedings. The second day featured CRC Training, engaging participants in Chapter Motions Training and Simulation guided by RMCR Mr. Basel Anbari.
Mr. Farooq Mehboob, the immediate past president of ASHRAE, was also present at the occasion. He has the distinction of being the first non-American and non-European president of ASHRAE since its inception.
