Mr. Yasir Mahmood talks to Engineering Post
Airex Trading Co. Pvt. Ltd. is a fast-emerging name in Pakistan’s HVACR industry, built on deep technical roots, hands-on experience, and a clear understanding of market needs. Officially registered in 2023, the company represents the culmination of more than two decades of industry learning and progression under the leadership of its CEO, Mr. Yasir Mehmood. Today, Airex Trading stands as an authorized distributor of Hitachi air conditioning systems in Pakistan, while also offering its own Airx brand to serve a broader customer base, positioning the company as a reliable, nationwide HVACR solutions provider.
Speaking exclusively to Engineering Post, Mr. Yasir Mehmood traced his professional journey back to the year 2000, when he began his career as a technician. “I started from the ground level, learning the technical skills of the trade with my own hands,” he shared. “That early exposure helped me understand equipment, installation challenges, and customer expectations in a very practical way.” Over the years, this experience laid a solid foundation, and by 2015 he was actively working as an HVACR contractor, executing projects and building credibility in the market.
A major turning point came in 2023, when Mr. Yasir Mehmood successfully secured the distribution rights for Hitachi and formally established Airex Trading Co. Pvt. Ltd. “Winning the Hitachi distribution was a milestone for us,” he said. “Hitachi is a Japanese brand known globally for its superior quality, reliability, and performance. While it is positioned at a slightly higher price point, it delivers exceptional value in the long term.” Airex Trading now imports Hitachi systems across multiple segments, including residential, light commercial, and commercial air conditioning solutions.
Another key differentiator is the company’s ability to supply CBU (Completely Built-Up) units, a requirement for many high-end and specialized clients. “We are currently the only ones who can provide CBU units for certain applications,” Mr. Yasir Mehmood said. “This gives us a unique edge in the market.”
Understanding the diverse purchasing power of the Pakistani market, Airex Trading strategically expanded its portfolio by introducing a Chinese brand under the name Airx. “We realized that not every customer has the budget for a premium Japanese brand,” Mr. Yasir Mehmood explained. “So, to cater to that segment without compromising reliability, we added Airx to our portfolio. This allows us to offer solutions for every requirement and every budget.”
Mr. Yasir Mehmood emphasized that the company’s rapid growth would not have been possible without strong industry support. “The HVACR industry supported us immensely,” he noted. “From dealers to technicians and consultants, the encouragement and trust we received played a major role in our success.” In a remarkably short span of time, both Hitachi and Airx brands have gained strong traction in Pakistan, supported by a growing dealer network that caters to customers across the country.
Airex Trading’s focus on product strength and after-sales support has resulted in an impressive track record. “We have thousands of units installed with zero complaints,” Mr. Yasir Mehmood stated with confidence. “This is something we are extremely proud of.” The company’s client portfolio includes major names such as KFC outlets across Pakistan, Nishat Group, IT universities, and sports complexes. In the restaurant segment, prominent brands including Cheezious, Tai Pan, and others rely on Hitachi systems supplied by Airex Trading.
