Asian Development Bank has approved a loan of $ 200 million to modernize the power distribution infrastructure in energy-crisis stricken country Pakistan.
The ADB sponsored Power Distribution Strengthening Project aims to upgrade and modernize distribution to meet the country’s rapidly growing electricity demand. According to the information available from ADB sources, the project in its initial phase will support three major distribution companies Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Multan Electric Supply Company ( MEPCO) and Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) paving the way for more efficient and sustainable energy delivery in these three regions.
Under the project, at least 332000 advanced metering and data management systems and 15800 online transformer performance monitors will be installed in Lahore Electric Supply Company, Multan Electric Supply Company and Sukkur Electric Power Company.
