9 development projects worth Rs 371 billion have been approved by the Executive committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). ECNEC held a meeting for the discussions in this regard which was chaired by caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Shamshad Akhtar.
The projects that were approved included the KPK Food Security Project worth 25.09 billion rupees, Sindh School Rehabilitation project under Floor Restoration Program costing Rs86 billion, Refugees & Host communities Regional Sub Windows SH Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Human Capital Investment Project (KP-HCIP) at a total cost of Rs32.834 billion, Prime Minister’s laptop scheme through HEC for a total of 16 billion rupees, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Human Capital Investment Project (KP-HCIP) (health component) at a total cost of Rs24. 224billion, a project on Women Inclusive Finance at a total cost of Rs31.413 billion, Greater Thal Canal Project (Phase-II) for Rs38.372 billion, Peshawar Northern bypass project for 27 billion rupees and Sindh Barrage improvement project Phase III submitted by ministry of water resources.
The caretaker Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Sami Saeed, Federal Minister for Communications, Railways and Maritime Affairs Shahid Ashraf Tarar, federal secretaries and other senior officers from federal ministries and provincial departments were a part of the meeting and decided amongst themselves for the approval of all of the projects mentioned above.
