PM Nawaz sharif has inaugurated Haveli Bahadur Shah Gas Power plants constructed in a record period and its first unit has now started generating760MW power. Total capacity of the plant installed near Jhang is 1320 MW, out of which, remaining 760 MW shall be produced by the 2nd unit expected to start generation soon.
Speaking about Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant, the prime minister said the project was completed in historic 21 months’ time, adding, a new trend had been created in the country where mega projects were being completed in shortest possible time.
Similarly, he said, Diamer Bhasha Dam was also in the preparation phase, and after completion, it would not only generate 4,500 mega-watts of electricity but would serve as a huge water reservoir to irrigate our agricultural lands.
He said with dozens of power projects launched by the present government, it had succeeded in adding 7,000 MW of electricity to the national grid so far.
Later Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting which was attended by Chief Technology Officer of General Electric Company Andrew John Lammas and members of his team.
They congratulated Shahbaz Sharif and federal government on generation of power from Bhikki and Haveli Bahadur Shah Gas Power plants in a record period.
Shahbaz also applauded General Electric and Chinese Companies authorities and said they also have worked hard for the said projects. Chairman Planning and Development, Chief Executive Officer National Power Parks Management Company, Secretary Energy and Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Limited were also present on the occasion.
