38th Student Seminar by IEEEP Karachi Chapter at DSU

On 22nd February 2023, The Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Pakistan (IEEEP) organized the 38th All Pakistan IEEEP student seminar at DHA Suffa University (DSU) Karachi. This was the second time when the event was organized at DHA Suffa University.

Engr. Asad Said Jafar, Chairman & CEO at Signify Pakistan Limited graced the closing session as Chief Guest. While speaking to the audience, Engr. Asad Said Jafar highlighted that education is the lifeline of a nation. The progress and prosperity of the country depend upon its education system. Furthermore, he insisted on the need for indigenous solutions to energy challenges. Mr. Asad Said Jafar, CEO & Chairman of Signify (formerly known as Philips Pakistan) spoke about local capacity building and how that can be synergized to produce globally recognized entrepreneurs. He also appreciated the efforts of IEEEP for providing the students with this opportunity to show their skills and hard work. Mr. Asad Said Jafar congratulated IEEEP and DSU for organizing the event.

Engr Khalid Parvaiz, Chairman IEEEP Karachi Centre highlighted the research being done at the local universities in the fields of renewables, energy efficiency, and storage, and their commercial applications will be given their due exposure in the IEEEP student seminar. He further stated that the Student technical seminar has provided a liaison between Final Year Students and Industry Professionals.

Vice-Chancellor DSU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque presented Memento to Engr. Asad Said Jafar. In his remarks, VC DSU reminded the youth that they have left no choice but to keep pace with exponential growth in scientific and technological fields if they have to survive in the comity of nations with peace & dignity

At the 38th IEEEP Student Seminar, undergraduate students from all over Pakistan submitted their final-year research work and presentations. In total 30 papers were presented in five technical sessions. The organizing committee at DSU Electrical Engineering strictly checked the quality of technical papers presented at the seminar as per the HEC policy. The Jury selected the top six papers for participation in IEEEP Multitopic Symposium 2023 and will be awarded medals and cash prizes at the IEEEP International Symposium later in March 2023. The event was widely attended by students of Electrical, Computer & Software Engineering/Computer Science, Electronics, Biomedical & other ICT-related fields. The participants lauded the efforts of IEEEP Karachi and DHA Suffa University for bringing new technological trends into the discussion. IEEEP’s efforts were highly fruitful in terms of encouraging students and improving the industry-academia relationship.
