It is good to note that more and more new companies are being established in different sectors in the country with every passing month.
During July 2024, the first month of financial year 2024-25, as many as 2864 new companies in different sectors got registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP) increasing the total number of registered companies to 225561.
This had signaled an appreciable increase of 25 percent as compared to the corresponding month of last year and also marked the highest number of companies registered in the country in a month.
According to the information available from the SECP sources, out of new companies registered during the month under report, large number of as much as 58 percent new companies were registered as the private limited companies, 39 percent as angle member companies and the remaining 39 percent as the public unlisted companies not for profit associations, trade organizations, and partnership with limited liability. Almost all new companies, 99.8 percent, were registered with the SECP online.
Out of new companies, 471 pertained to the Information Technology sector, followed by Trading sector 364 companies, Services sector 362, Real Estate Development and Construction sector with 284, Tourism sector 164, Ecommerce sector 120, Textile sector 65, Marketing and Advertising sector 64, Power Generation sector 51 , Fuel and Energy sector 46, Engineering sector 43. Transport sector 32, Auto and Allied sector 27, Communications sector 23 among other sectors.
Foreign investment was reported in 86 new companies mainly by foreign investors from Afghanistan, Antigua and Narbuda, Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United Kingdom (UK), United States (USA) and Zambia.
