12 Mega projects worth Rs. 380 Billion approved by ECNEC

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 12 major development projects worth over Rs380 billion, marking a major step toward inclusive and sustainable growth across Pakistan.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating socio-economic transformation through investments in key sectors including agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, energy, and climate resilience.

Speaking at the meeting, Senator Ishaq Dar said the government’s development priorities are focused on improving livelihoods, enhancing productivity, and strengthening resilience to climate and economic challenges. “Each project must translate into better opportunities and quality of life for our citizens,” he stressed.

The ECNEC meeting reviewed and cleared multiple initiatives in areas such as irrigation, power, education sector reforms, and public health infrastructure, with a total portfolio of around Rs380 billion. Specific project details are expected to be shared following final documentation and implementation planning.

The session was attended by the Minister for Planning, the Senior Minister of Punjab, Sindh’s Minister for Irrigation and Food, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Advisor on Finance, and Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, along with senior federal and provincial representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Energy, Planning, and Cabinet Division.

Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated that the government aims to ensure swift execution and measurable outcomes from all approved projects, emphasizing transparency, efficiency, and equitable regional development.
