Special Communication Organisation (SCO) has established a state of the art software technology park at Skardu. The institute was inaugurated by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the start of October 2020 during his visit to Skardu and Gilgit.
The software technology park will help promote research and innovation in the field of information technology (IT) and defense communication. Establishment of IT clusters in remote areas would have a great effect by encouraging innovation and digitization. While addressing the inauguration ceremony the COAS said “The facility will help create environment for research and innovation in the fields of IT and defense communication by honing and harnessing the skills of our brilliant youth. It will serve as a trigger for development of cyber industry in the area,”
