The irrigation department of KP has informed the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan that seven dams have been completed in the province of KP. The projects have added a live storage capacity of 21694 acre feet and 11710 acres of land will be irrigated using water from these projects.
The newly constructed dams include Loughar Dam Karak, Khair Bara Dam Haripur, Karak Dam Karak, Jabba Khattak Dam Nowshera, Darmalak Dam Kohat, Ghole Banda Dam Karak and Mardan Khel Dam Karak. The dams have been constructed at a total cost of Rs. 2684 million.
Moreover the construction of Zamir Gul Dam, Kohat and Bada Dam, Swabi is also in progress and would be completed at the estimated revised cost of Rs 1128.22 million and Rs 1921.408 million respectively. Total cultivable command area of these two projects would be 5965 acres
