Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government has decided to make essential industries operational across the country. To ensure that this step does not exacerbate the COVID-19 situation in the country proper Standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be chalked out regarding health and hygiene of the workers before granting permission.
The industries will be reopened in a phased manner. She said that the government had lifted ban on the goods transport for maintaining uninterrupted food supply while the permission for wheat reaping and the allied industry was part of government’s efforts to save the country from impending economic challenges.
Industral closure has resulted in losses for the owners amounting to millions. The business community of the country has repeatedly urged the government to allow reopening of businesses to minimize losses.
