Addressing socio-economic effects under $1 billion grant by Chinese government

The 1st (smart meet-up) meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC by the sub-parliamentary committee was held at Parliament House under the headship of Noor Alam Khan. The agenda of the meeting was to address the concerns of local people as the local ownership of the project is highly necessary. To inspect the socioeconomic development projects under a $1 billion grant by the Chinese government, the launch of model projects in the selective districts of the country will pave ways to reduce poverty. The next point of meeting agenda was to strengthen the coordination ties among federal and provincial/regional departments. Pakistan needs to learn from remarkable Chinese experiences with extreme focus on the capacity building while enhancing the skills with consistent focus on how to become self-sufficient in all areas of socio-economic development. Covering the pillar areas of socio-economic development i.e. agriculture, medical health, poverty alleviation, education, vocational education, and water supply schemes, the committee was instructed by additional secretary, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ministry of National Food Security and Research, chairman, Higher Education Commission.
